Have you ever come to a crossroads in your life where you knew that you'd
have to give up something good to have a shot at something great? We all have a tendency to stay with what we know -- fear of the unknown often overpowers the 'grass is greener' allure. It is these very moments that define where we go in life.
This is the theme of JT Spangler's debut CD, Love Songs For No One. In the
featured song, Impossible, JT asks that very question. Are you willing to
walk away from what you currently have to find something better? Are you
willing to push yourself to the next level, and will you have the courage to reach for the life you know you deserve?
The choices you make inform where you go in life. The
relationships we find ourselves in can be the source of our joys and pains. In
the song Someone Like You, JT talks about the familiar situation of realizing we are with the wrong person but being unable to admit it.
Ironically, we stay in those situations, fighting with ourselves to stay
and not walk away to look for something better. This failure to look hard for the happiness that each and every one of deserve is a topic discussed in several songs. Lullaby, for instance, tells the bittersweet story of a woman paralyzed by inaction and weighed down by responsibility. The song is sad, but the message is not: if you dig deep within yourself and push to get the life you deserve, you greatly improve your shot at true happiness simply through the act of having the courage to pursue it. Nice To Meet You and How Can I Miss You, on the other hand, are songs that make you smile; songs that celebrate the good times. It's those special moments you share with your partner that makes the long trek to true love worth it.
The key to happiness is to realize you are in control of your life -- your happiness is within your ability to effect. JT Spangler's gift to you is to remind
you that it's not too late.
